Why we chose this

Édouard Taufenbach and Bastien Pourtout spent the March 2020 lockdown at the Villa Médicis in Rome with almost nobody else in the building, photographing the swallows as they arrived over the city. Each piece is a grid assembled from hundreds of separate frames, three hundred and twenty-four in most, so the bird is never in one place and the flight, not the animal, is the subject. Le Bleu du Ciel took the Prix Swiss Life à quatre mains in 2021, paired with a score by Régis Campo.
