The short list

The Canon

22 collections the rest of the medium had to answer. They lead their rooms whatever the market is doing this month; that is the entire privilege, and the entire argument for each is below.

Most of this gallery is ordered with a bias toward work that is currently trading, so the front of every room stays alive. The canon is the deliberate exception: work whose importance we refuse to let the market re-litigate monthly. Autoglyphs sits at a heavy floor and barely trades, because 512 pieces in strong hands simply do not move. Illiquidity there is conviction, not neglect.

Membership is a judgment about cultural weight, not a floor-price threshold; a high floor with no bids is just an unanswered ask.

Origins

Before the medium had a market, a vocabulary, or a name.

The generative canon

The artist writes the system; the system makes the work.

Ideas the medium had to answer

Not always art, exactly. Unignorable either way.

Photography

This room barely trades, so canon does the work the market will not. Without these entries the room would stay empty.

The rule, precisely

Canon sorts ahead of the liveness ranking, so these collections open their rooms even when nothing is selling. It is deliberately not an exemption from the Alive filter; that filter reports what changed hands this week, and a card smuggled into it would read Ξ 0 under a label claiming otherwise. Canon that is not trading hangs under All, at the top, which is where the argument for it belongs.

The list is kept short on purpose. Every addition dilutes the claim the list makes, so the test for entry is strict: did the rest of the medium have to answer this work? If the answer needs a paragraph, it is a no.
