Why we chose this

Tanimoto kept his favourite files on floppy disks of about a megabyte and believed digital data lasted forever. The disks rotted and the files went with them. What he built out of that is a collapsed chain rendered as a submerged city, its few surviving nodes keeping up appearances, with the data that lost its blocks drifting overhead as a cloud. A work about permanence, minted on the thing that sells permanence.
